Apologies for the delay in updating you all on poor Blue. Unfortunately my dear Jedi has been attention seeking again (not really!!) and spent New Year in hospital in Somerset! She's fine, problem not resolved yet, but that's a long story for another post!
Anyway, Blue. I had a phone call from an RSPCA inspector back on the 22nd December. Apparantly he had visited on the 19th. I had wondered, because all of a sudden Blue had started getting a little more attention. He told me that he had not been impressed with Blue's conditions and had layed down some requirements, including cleaning her shed and feeding her properly. (The phone call from the Lib Dem office obviously worked!) The inspector told me that he would return the first week of January to ensure that things had improved....... haven't seen or heard from him yet!
But things have improved for Blue, they aren't great, but she is being feed hay and hard feed (although I don't know what), her rug is being adjusted and water is being provided. At the moment this is happening about once every three to four days although one day she was seen to twice!!! Her shed still hasn't been cleaned out but fresh straw has been put down on top. Not acceptable but better. At least she made it through the terrible cold weather we have had. Before Christmas I never thought she would.
I do have doubts that this period of 'care' will last, I think the novelty will wear off quite quick, but we are faced with Blue every day so we won't be giving up. Another call to the RSPCA from the Lib Dem office may be soon needed too. The inspector promised me he would be back and I intend to ensure he fulfills his promise.

Hey, how are you doing? Hope everything is well.
really glad that Blue is being looked after even if not in the correct manner. There is nothing on earth that would stop me going at least twice a day to care for my donkeys! Some people I don't know how they have the front!
I hope all goes well for Blue. And I hope Jedi is soon back in the fullness of health
Good luck and hope everything pans out for you!
It's always nice to hear someone fighting for rights of neglected animals.
Sorry I haven't visited in ages - you know what life is like!
;)
I'm with Stiggy! It's nice to see you not giving up. I wonder if there is a small farm in the area that would love to have a nice "Blue" wandering around the fields. Is there a Craigs List where you can post something like that? I guess the owner would have to be asked if he/she is interested in giving the horse away.
I hope your Jedi is OK.
Thanks all for your comments again folks!! Don the local animal welfare office at our council offered the owner a home for her and they refused to give her up!!! So frustrating.
I wonder how much it take for them to give up Blue...
...it may be worth asking them.
Now I'm not a horse lover in any way, shape or form, in fact in our villiage I count them as one of the pests, mainly cos their riders let them mess on the pavement outside our kids school (but I won't rant - sorry!)...
...but to hear of such a large animal being mistreated makes me upset.
If the owners aren't bothered about Blue - it worth asking?
Is there a chance that he could be taken off the hands of the owners by the council or animal wellfare office?
Hi Stiggy, animal welfare said they couldn't do anything if he wouldn't admit he had a problem caring for her!!!!! The RSPCA have the power to remove her but just don't seem like they can be offered. Several people have now offered her a home too. Grrrrrrrr
